Earning Her Keep

This week I told Sadie it was time for her to start earning her keep.

Since she worked hard helping wash the laundry and clean the dishes I let her take a water break. I'm a good boss.

Sewing for Boys

I love having a girl and I love making girly clothes but it is also a lot of fun when I get the chance to make things for boys. One of Sadie's best buddies (nevermind the fact they've never met) is David. His mommy has a private blog or I would link to it so you can see how cute he is. You'll just have to trust me. He is such a cutie. I was so excited when his mommy let me make him some things for this summer.
Every little boy needs a crab shirt!
This shirt was really for David's daddy. He loves golf so David needed to help represent.
The shirts themselves were so cute but these matching shorts just make the outfit. I love them so much and I was thrilled to find out they fit him perfectly!
Here are a couple of shirts I made David earlier this year.
I couldn't leave out Eli's shirt either. He is another one of Sadie's friends. I loved making this shirt for him. It is all boy with a football but the polka dots make it sweet for a little guy.

Zoo Fun

A couple of weeks ago Josh and I finally took Sadie to the zoo. She is really into animals these days and I knew she would love it. Since the zoo isn't cheap and I knew there was no way we could see all of it in one afternoon we decided to get a family pass for the year. Happy Mother's Day and Birthday to me. :) I think we will definitely go to the zoo a lot. We might only go for a few minutes each time but that is the perk of having a pass.

This elephant was really funny. He would take two steps forward and two steps back. He did this over and over which kept him in the same spot the entire time.

Sadie loved the animals on the farm. I think this might be her favorite place to go when we visit.

Of course we had to check out the giraffe.

I like these little guys.

I didn't get a lot of pictures but I will take more next time. I think maybe we'll go again next week. Although I don't know how much we'll like it when it is 150 degrees outside.

Old Friends New Friends

A couple of weekends ago I was finally able to meet Sadie's newest friend Lily Beth. Lily Beth's mommy, Holly, and I have known each other for a LONG time. We actually met in the first grade and since I'm about to be 32 *gasp* that was quite a few years ago. I have been looking forward to holding this sweet baby for weeks. Sadie was excited to meet her as well.

Lily Beth is so sweet and SO TALL!
Look at her adorable long legs? I loved them! Her daddy is rather tall so there is no question where she got her height. Other than her long legs though she is so little. I was smitten with her right away.
I was willing to trade her for Sadie (just for the day) but her momma and daddy wouldn't go for it. I don't know why not. Maybe because my child was having to be followed around like a hawk while she helped herself to whatever caught her eye.
This picture is my favorite. Goodness!
Here Sadie is telling us about the "baby" and Lily is praying the Lord has mercy on her and keeps that monster in blue away from her.
Sadie loves babies but babies don't always love her. It was best Lily got a view of Sadie from the safety of her mother's lap.
There is obviously a very large age difference between these two now but I know the gap will close soon and they will be buds. I just hope Sadie doesn't try to boss Lily Beth around like I did her momma when we were little.
I have a bad feeling about it though...

Mother's Day

Here I am holding Sadie last year on Mother's Day.
Here I am holding Sadie on this Mother's Day.
I remember the second I became a momma. On April 13, 2011 at 8:50 pm I looked down at this bright-eyed baby and my heart flooded with emotion. I loved her with my whole heart and couldn't imagine ever loving her more. To my surprise I can honestly say I love her more today than I did yesterday. This sweet baby made me a momma.
I love being a momma.
It's hard and I'm not always the best at it. But I'm humbled and thankful the Lord gave me this gift.
I am blessed.

Easter Weekend

I'm still trying to catch up on blog posts so that is why this Easter post is a little late. There are a lot of pictures and they pretty much sum up the weekend.
Sadie had her first Easter Egg Hunt at church although she didn't do much "hunting". In fact she took the eggs out of the basket instead of putting them in the basket. We'll brush up on her skills for next year. She was more insterested in the "buh-ies" (bunnies) than anything. She gave them lots of smiles and hugs. And please excuse the crazy bow and hair. I have limited opportunities to fix those things these days.

Sunday morning Sadie woke up to her Easter basket full of goodies.
She always goes straight for the "yum-yum" first.

Here is our little bunny in her Easter dress. She looked so cute. I just love this baby girl so much!

First Haircut

I am WAY behind in blog posts. I hope to get caught up ASAP.

On Good Friday Sadie got her first haircut. It was really just a trim of the bangs and even out the back so it didn't amount to much. I was worried how Sadie would do but I should have known the second she saw herself in the mirror she would be just fine.

1st Birthday Party-Birthday Girl

Here are some pictures of the birthday girl and her cake.
She loves cake.

Why is everyone looking at me??
